## Abstract Quaternized chitosan/layered silicate nanocomposite was prepared by simple solution‐mixing in aqueous media. Montmorillonite (MMT) modified with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide was used as an organically modified layered silicate. XRD and TEM analyses respectively confirmed that silicat
