Certain active cytotoxic alkaloid fractions prepared from Catharanthus trichophyllus roots were investigated. This work resulted in the isolation of ajmalicine, pericalline, tetrahydroalstonine, vindolinine, and ursolic acid. These compounds were not responsible for the observed cytotoxic activity.
