In the title molecule, C 21 H 25 NO 3 , the piperidine ring is in a chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 48.4 (1) . The methoxy groups are almost coplanar with the attached benzene rings. The molecular and crystal structures are stabilized by C-HΓ Γ Γ interactions.

The Cu^II^ ion of the title complex, [Cu(SO~4~)(C~15~H~11~N~3~O)(H~2~O)]Β·2H~2~O, exhibits a square-pyramidal coordination geometry, defined by the three N-atom donors of a 2,6-bis(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-4-ol ligand and an O atom of a sulfate group in the basal plane, and by an aqua ligand in the apica
