β¦ Synopsis
This paper considers the anti-plane (or mode III) crack problem in a functionally graded material strip. The shear modulus of the strip is considered for a class of functional forms for which the equilibrium equation has an analytical solution. The problem is solved by means of singular integral equation technique. Both a single crack and a series of collinear cracks are studied. The results are tabulated and plotted to show the effect of the material nonhomogeneity and crack location on the stress intensity factors.

A new multi-layered model for fracture analysis of functionally graded materials (FGMs) with arbitrarily varying YoungΓs modulus and PoissonΓs ratio under plane stress-state deformation has been developed. In this model, the FGM is divided into several sub-layers and in each sub-layer both YoungΓs m
This paper addresses finite element evaluation of the non-singular T-stress and mixed-mode stress intensity factors in functionally graded materials (FGMs) under steady-state thermal loads by means of interaction integral. In this paper, the viscoelastic fracture of multiple cracks in a functionally graded strip is studied. The solution of linear elastic crack tip field is investigated at first, using the finite element method. Both applied stress load and applied strain load are taken into account. The effects of the
