โœฆ Synopsis

I was pleased when I started into Balanis' tome. The text was readable, detailed enough to follow with good math and standard symbology. He covers just about everything, but suggest further readings if you want to go into depth in a topic. For example, he does not cover large loops where the current is not constant. That is a topic with several decades of work behind it that I wish he had summarized better, though he did try some; he left it blank for the most part.

He has very good references and suggestions for further reading throughout.

This is an excellent antenna text. I would say in general the heuristic explanations are very clear and a wide range of antennas are covered. Perhaps at some points the math is glossed over just a tiny bit, and so if you're really trying to derive things along with the text, it can be a challenge

The discipline of antenna theory has experienced vast technological changes. In response, Constantine Balanis has updated his classic text, Antenna Theory, offering the most recent look at all the necessary topics. New material includes smart antennas and fractal antennas, along with the late
