THE ANOMALOUS SKIN EFFECT AND THE REFLECTIVITY OF METALS III. GENERAL THEORY OF LOW-FREQUENCY AND OPTICAL BEHAVIOUR by R. B. DINGLE Laboratorium voor technische physica, Technische Hogeschool, Delft, h'ederland

Synopsis

A general method is devised for solving the integro-differential equation of the anomalous skin effect in the low-frequency and optical regions, and formulae derived for the optical constants of metals on the assumption that a known fraction of the electrons is reflected specularly at the internal surface.

In an earlier paper 1) tentative expressions for optical absorption by semiconductors were obtained by averaging expressions valid for metals over the "transport distribution function", and the results discussed. In the present work, more general formulae are derived rigorously by solving the integr
