Abstract

We here report using the convenient anodization method to fabricate colored porous TiO~2~ films. The photonic color of the fabricated TiO~2~ film originates from the Fabry–Pérot interference phenomena. By adjusting the parameters of the anodization process, TiO~2~ films with different colors are obtained. The fabricated TiO~2~ photonic film is mesoporous and is capable of optical sensing as illustrated by the change of its optical response upon exposure to ethanol vapor. magnified image
