The effect of the noncorrespondence of normal coordinates on the Franck-Condon factors governing the appearance of non-totally symmetric vibrations in electronic spectra is examined. In a two-dimensional symmetry species containing vibrations 1 and 2, transitions such as 1 1 0 2 1 0 , 1 1 0 2 3 0 ,

Non-radiative transitions in gaseous mol
✍ K. Takahasih πŸ“‚ Article πŸ“… 1979 πŸ› Elsevier Science 🌐 English βš– 361 KB

A theory of intramolecular non-radiative transitions is proposed for gaseous small molecules. The theory explains three experimental features: the linearity of the Stern-Volmer equation, the Douglas effect, and the fact that the non-radiative rate is faster in a gas than in condensed media.
