## Abstract A series of organic phosphonate and hydroxy‐phosphonate derivatives have been synthesised and their NMR spectra fully analysed. The __vicinal__ ^31^Pο£Ώ^1^H coupling constants of these derivatives give evidence of a regular angular dependence.
