✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Analysis of the effect of the substrate size of the end‐fire double rhombus antenna on its directivity is performed. The purpose is to increase the directivity without increasing antenna width for this antenna to be used in a circular array node as part of a cell phone detection system for post‐disaster search and rescue operations. It was found that the directivity of the antenna can be increased by increasing the length of the dielectric substrate. Different configurations have been studied to obtain high directivity. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett, 2011; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com. ## Abstract Conventionally, partially reflective surface antenna contains a highly reflective sheet. It is usually constructed by closely spaced metal elements and its size is equal to that of the supported substrate. In this letter, size of the dielectric material is made larger than that of the r
