The reinforced concrete slit shear wall system has been introduced recently as a new breed of earthquake resistant structures. Some theoretical and experimental investigations have been conducted to study the behaviour of isolated connecting beams and slit shear wall models under static load, but li

โฆ Synopsis
The ultimate strength analysis of reinforced concrete coupled shear walls with one or two bands of openings requires a two-stage approach. In the first stage, the analysis of the coupling beams is carried out. This is followed by the analysis of the complete wall in the second stage. A simple approach based on the 'total moment concept' for the analysis of coupled shear walls with one or two bands of openings is presented. Experimental results supporting the predictions of the mode of failure and ultimate strength is also presented. This study updates previous research and enhances further understanding of the behaviour of reinforced concrete shear wall structures at ultimate limit states of loading.

Presented is a method of analysis of multi-bay coupled shear walls resting on rigid or elastic foundations. By basing the analysis on the finite difference technique, a closed solution to the problem is achieved. This yields a set of simultaneous finite difference equations. The solution is illustra
A numerical procedure for a dynamic non-linear finite element analysis is proposed here to analyse three-dimensional reinforced concrete shear wall structures subjected to earthquake motions. A shear wall is modelled as a quasi-three dimensional structure which is composed of plane elements consider
Reinforced concrete is a composite structural material which has been the subject of extensive research since it was first used. When considering the rational properties, the research has mainly centred on the behaviour of the concrete, that of the reinforcing steel and the interaction between the s
