โฆ Synopsis
Heat transfer in a centrifugal film evaporator with a conical heating surface is analysed. Two regions of transfer can be distinguished: an entrance region, where the temperature profile in the film develops, and an evaporation region, where "surface evaporation" takes place. Relations are derived for liquid film temperature profiles in both regions. The transition from the entrance-to the evaporation region is predicted. The relation between film thickness of the evaporating liquid film and the radial distance from the cone apex is derived. Local and average Nusselt numbers are computed. Limiting results for very thin liquid films are derived. Numerical results are given.
