## Abstract Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) has been demonstrated to be an effective and reproducible sample pretreatment procedure for removal of heavy oil matrices prior to GC‐AED analysis of metalloporphyrins, and for the resolution of volatile metal species into clean and defined fractions.
