p-Sitosterol 3,5Dinitrobenzoate.-The free compound (0.26 Gm.) was refluxed 0.5 hour with 0.60 Gm. 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride in 8 ml. anhydrous pyridine. The product, worked-up as described for the crude dinitrobenzoate mixture, gave light yellow needles after four crystallizations from ethyl acetate, m. p. 208-209"; [a]: -112.0'.
