β¦ Synopsis
The microporous accessibility of three pillared clays (AI-, Zr-and Ti-PILC) and two zeolites as references have been studied. Nitrogen adsorption data obtained at very low relative pressures were used to obtain a thorough characterization of the microporosity of the samples. The Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) formalism was used to describe the volume filling of micropores and the energetic heterogeneity of microporous solids. The adsorption potential distributions and the Horvath-Kawazoe model confirm the existence of two sizes of micropores in the pillared clays and one size in the zeolites. Nevertheless, the two zeolites show a larger microporosity than the three pillared clays studied.
