โฆ Synopsis
An unusually large zero-field sphttmg of the lowest triplet state has been observed duectly m the phosphorescence spectrum of the vanthlonc molecule m a vanthone host crystal. There are two xantluone guest sites in the host crystal Ln one of the sltcs the zero-field parameter D IS -11 cm-' and m the other rt IS -20 cm-'. These results have been confiimcd by measurcmcnts of the Zceman sphttmgs. It IS argued that the large D values are due to spin-orblt couplmg
