✦ Synopsis
The optical spectra of AgX : Ni z + (X = CI, Br) in the O h system, and the ZFS parameter D in the axial system have been calculated by means of the pKa model of the Ni 2 + 6X (X = F, CI, Br, I) cluster. The calculation shows that the band distance in AgX:Ni z+ has been reduced isotropically and the axial system should be dependent on the Ni 2 +-vacancy along the z-axis. The results agree well with experimental findings.
