β¦ Synopsis
For some time there has been the need to bring new technologies utilising daylight in buildings and to assess their performance for the benefit of those concerned with the building industry, particularly building design practitioners, lighting engineers, builders, product manufacturers, building owners and property managers. As there are many different systems with different purposes and abilities on the market, it is difficult to find the right one. An overview with division into main principles, illustrating sketches and short descriptions of the elements helps a lot to choose the right daylighting system for given conditions.

Toplighting in warm and humid climates have always been a problem for designers due to associated solar heat gain. This paper aims to analyse toplighting fenestration systems and the relationship between their heat gain and luminous performance of buildings in intertropieal regions. Using simplified
During the past 5 yr multilinear, multipower and polynomic systems have become a most important area of applications and theoretical development. This paper starts with some typical examples and historical remarks. Using this background, it then proceeds to put the recent literature in perspective a
Process simulation has become an accepted tool for the performance, design, and optimization of thermal processes. Solving the mathematical models representing solar heating process units and systems is one of the most tedious and repetitive problems. Nested iterative procedures are usually needed t
DNA repair systems act to maintain genome integrity in the face of replication errors, environmental insults, and the cumulative effects of age. More than 70 human genes directly involved in the five major pathways of DNA repair have been described, including chromosomal location and cDNA sequence.
