โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

We consider a financial market consisting of a risky asset and a riskless one, with a constant or random investment horizon. The interest rate from the riskless asset is constant, but the relative return rate from the risky asset is stochastic with an unknown parameter in its distribution. Following the Bayesian approach, the optimal investment and consumption problem is formulated as a Markov decision process. We incorporate the concept of risk aversion into the model and characterize the optimal strategies for both the power and logarithmic utility functions with a constant relative risk aversion (CRRA). Numerical examples are provided that support the intuition that a higher proportion of investment should be allocated to the risky asset if the mean return rate on the risky asset is higher or the risky asset return rate is less volatile. ## Abstract We use the statistical model of bandit processes to formulate and solve two kinds of optimal investment and consumption problems. The payoffs from the investment are dividend payments with fixed return rates, but the payment frequency is stochastic following a Poisson distribution. The

## Abstract In this paper, we assume that an investor can invest his/her wealth in a bond and a stock. In our wealth model, the stochastic interest rate is described by a Coxโ€“Ingersollโ€“Ross (CIR) model, and the volatility of the stock is proportional to another CIR process. This research solves the intertemporal portfolio choice problems with and without interim consumption under stochastic inflation. We assume a oneโ€factor nominal interest rate and a oneโ€factor expected inflation rate, implying a twoโ€factor real interest rate in the economy. In contrast to other relat

This paper describes an active suspension model for rail/vehicle systems based on preview and stochastic optimal control. The vehicle is modelled as a linear system with three degrees of freedom subject to irregular rail inputs which are described by first order systems with Gaussian white random in

This paper develops a new method for the analysis of stochastic volatility (SV) models. Since volatility is a latent variable in SV models, it is dicult to evaluate the exact likelihood. In this paper, a non-linear ยฎlter which yields the exact likelihood of SV models is employed. Solving a series of
