โœฆ Synopsis

Copies of the unmarked scripts of ten candidates in the 1970 B.Sc. (Eng.) Part I paper on Fluid Mechanics were marked by eight separate markers each working to the same marking schedule.

For the whole paper (maximum 100 marks) the standard deviation of a candidate's marks about his mean mark fell within the range of 3 to 11 marks. If the results of this investigation are typical the standard deviation in the marks a~regated for N equally weighted examinations is 5@ marks and is independent of the candidate's mean mark.
