Centrifugal elutriation was used further to isolate human peripheral blood monocytes (HPBM) from mononuclear-enriched cells harvested as a secondary component following platelet concentration collection samples. HPBM were recovered in either one or two populations consisting of either total HPBM or

โฆ Synopsis
Minor alterations of the electrical circuitry of the centrifuge required for centrifugal elutriation are described. Furthermore it is shown that elutriation can be performed by hydrostatic pressure without the utilization of a pump. This approach enables us to fractionate human blood cells at a constant flow rate by changing the rotor speed.

The actin filament content of cell lysates can be assayed by inhibition of DNase I activity (Blikstad, I., Markey, F., Carlsson, L., Persson, T., and Lindberg, U. (1978) Cell 15, 935-943). We have modified this assay in two ways. We have (i) established lysis conditions that do not affect the state
