Abstract
A small electrostatic precipitator is described which enables the determination of the dust content of gases, including those which are inflammable and have dew points above room temperature, the majority of the dust particles concerned being below I micron in diameter. The precipitator tubes, electrical layout, and ancillary equipment arc described, and also the technique developed to avoid ignition of the gas, loss of dust by condensation in pipeβlines, etc. Some examples of results obtained when using the precipitator to determine dust concentrations in producer gas with dew point 60Β° are given and discussed.
