In the presence of palladium complexes and copper iodide. the reaction of propar& halides with terminal alkynes proceed rapidly to give conjugated allenynes in high yield. Propar& acetates and tosylates are also suited to the preparation of such allenes.

The conjugated allenyne system has been found in a number of compounds produced by some microorganism.4
