An efficient method for the synthesis of a series of 4‐phenylhexahydro‐1H‐pyrano[2,3‐d]pyrimidin‐2(8a__H__)‐one derivatives via the one‐pot three‐component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, urea or thiourea and 3,4‐dihydro‐2__H__‐pyran in DMF/CH~3~CN using p‐TSA catalyst is described. Although three chiral centers are created, only one diastereomer is formed in a highly selective way. This method has several advantages such as higher yield, lower cost, and shorter reaction times.
