✦ Synopsis


The correlation coefficient is very useful in the analysis of biomedical signals. It has been utilized both for template matching and the time alignment of waveforms. For on-line applications, which require repeated calculation of a correlation coefficient, the computational burden of the correlation technique has severely restricted its use. This paper presents an algorithm for efficient calculation of the correlation coefficient, particularly when using correlation for waveform time alignment or with multiple templates.
