✦ Synopsis

An annotated catalogue is provided of the type specimens of the crocodilians in the herpetological collections of the Museum fu ¨r Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universita ¨t zu Berlin, Institut fu ¨r Systematische Zoologie, formerly the Zoologisches Museum Berlin (ZMB). The collection includes four type specimens, representing four named taxa (three of which are currently regarded as valid at the specific or subspecific level). Two of these are historically important types derived from the Bloch collection, the foundation collection of the ZMB, and were described by Schneider (1801). The remaining two specimens are paratypes obtained during the curatorship of the late Heinz Wermuth, who had a special interest in crocodilian systematics and biology.
