✦ Synopsis

China has become one of the most important markets for the Hong Kong tourism industry. The importance of China outbound market to Hong Kong has drawn scholars' interests in understanding what motivates Mainland Chinese to travel overseas. A model based on push and pull factors is adopted as a conceptual framework for the study, and the results indicate that the importance of push and pull factors in motivating Chinese travelers can be di!erent from that found in other studies. The study also suggests that there is a signi"cant relationship between travel motivations and social demographic factors.
