An Allylic Isoprenoid C 5 Nucleophile for the Synthesis of Forskolin. -Coupling of allyl stannanes with benzaldehyde is investigated under various conditions. In the presence of butyllithium or SnCl 4 coupling occurs with allylic inversion. By contrast, the use of indium chloride as Lewis acid resu

β¦ Synopsis
InCIrmediated couplin 8 of6-alkoxy allyllc stannane 9b with aldehydes has been shown to give the co-coupling products in high yield, probably via two S~' processes. Most specifically, drimenai (rac-l) has been convened into labdane derivative 17 which is considered to be an important intermediate on the way to forskolin.

2-C-Methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate is a key intermediate in the mevalonate independent pathway for isoprenoid biosynthesis. In order to investigate the fate of the protons in this metabolic route, [3,5,5,5-2Ha]-2-C-methyl -D-erythritol was synthesized. The relevant steps allowing deuterium introduc
