✦ Synopsis

A number of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives have been synthesized and tested as electron transfer niediators i n glucose oxidase-based amperornetric biosensors. Using cyclic voltanzmetry and stationary potential experiments, it is shown that several of these derivatives can effectively mediate electron transfer from the reduced flavin adenine dinucleotide redox centers of glucose oxidase to a conventional carbon paste electrode. An insoluble polymeric electron relay system, based on the covalent attachment of TTF inoieties to a highly flexible siloxane polymer, is also shown to facilitate a flow of electrons from the enzyme to the electrode. The resulting glucose biosensors function efficiently over a clinically relevant range of glucose concentrations

A mediated amperometric sensor for measuring rglutamate is described. The sensor is based on a carbon paste electrode containing the electron transfer mediator tetrathiafulvalene (TTF), and the enzyme L-glutamate oxidase immobilixed on the electrode surface. The enzyme is crosslinked with glutaralde

An amperometric enzyme electrode for the determination of aspartame in protein-free samples has been constructed. It is based on the coimmobilization of an aspartamehydrolyzing enzyme, aspartate aminotransferase, and glutamate oxidase on an Immobilon membrane. The electrode response is linear from \
