Abstract
The performances of an elliptical planar antenna that is circularly polarized are investigated. The proposed antenna is printed by CVD of aluminum on a glass substrate that is less used in microwave frequencies. A progressive design approach of the antenna is proposed, showing the influence of the geometrical design on the radioβfrequency performances. The measured characteristics in near and far fields of the optimized antenna are compared to the EM simulations, and the effect of a dielectric protection cover layer which is presented as a possible alternative to improve the polarization quality of the antenna.βΒ© 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
