Allylic coupling between [CpMo(CO)(NO)(q3-allyl)]+ and CpFe(C0)2(q1-allyl)

gives equal amounts of two stereoisomers of a 1,5-hexadiene in which the double bonds are complexed to different metals. Removal of the iron moiety yields a single diastereomer of a molybdenum -olefin complex. Investigation of the coupling with the crotyl molybdenum complex shows that it occurs regiospecifically at the unsubstituted terminus of the crotyl ligand.
