One such application was to a liquid tonic formula labeled to contain 20 I.U. vitamin E, as &alpha tocopheryl acetate/oz. Assay of the unsaponifiable fraction prior to chromatography indicated 440 I.U. apparent vitamin E/oz. TLC revealed the large amount of reducing substances. Assay of the eluted alpha tocopherol band gave a reasonable result of 20.6 REFERENCES
