Introduction. -Plants of the genus Daphniphyllum (Daphniphyllaceae) comprise ca. 30 species, of which ten grow in China [1]. They are distinguished for metabolizing a group of highly complex and diversified polycyclic alkaloids that have been challenging subjects in natural-product, synthetic, and b

Four new Daphniphyllum alkaloids, daphlongamines EβH (1β4, resp.), along with 19β known alkaloids, were isolated from the leaves of Daphniphyllum longeracemosum. Their structures were characterized by spectroscopic methods, especially 2DβNMR techniques. It is noteworthy that aconitineβ and veatchineβtype diterpenoid alkaloids were also isolated from this species.
