β¦ Synopsis
A simplified method of evaluating air absorption, in terms of A-weighted sound pressure level and A-weighted sound exposure level, is worked out. The results obtained can be used for prediction of equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure level of traffic noise. Up to a few hundred meters from a source the method is accurate to (\pm 1 \mathrm{~dB}) when certain conditions are met. For heavy traffic, far away from a road, the noise attenuation due to air absorption cannot be ignored.
