Abstract
Fineβgrained petroleum coke cannot be used for industrial purposes, therefore pelletizing of fine petroleum coke (less than 200 ΞΌm) was achieved with addition of bentonite as inorganic binder. The effect of moisture content, inclination angle, residence time and bentonite percent on the crushing strength, as well as the average diameters produced were studied. From the experimental results obtained it was found that the optium working conditions were: inclination angle of 60dΜ, moisture content of 32.5%, and residence time of 15 minutes. Several mathematical models were created using the experimental results. They were developed as two computer programs to calculate the crushing strength and the average pellet diameter of the produced pellets when bentonite was as binder. The validity of these programs was examined and acceptable results were obtained.
