✦ Synopsis

Ageing of EPDM synthetic elastomers exposed to g-irradiation has been investigated using solid-state NMR Spectroscopy. Both 13 C highresolution and 1 H wideline measurements were carried out to evaluate chemical degradation including oxidation products formation, chain scission and crosslinking phenomena. Highly specific structures were tentatively proposed as a result of careful examination of 13 C chemical shifts. The importance of diene monomer, the stabilising effect of curing process and the addition of antioxidants were evaluated on the basis of several polymer compositions.

This work describes a carbon and proton solid-state NMR study of the hydration of a high molecular weight wheat glutenin subunit, 1Dx5. The effect of the presence of disulfide bonds on the hydration behavior of the subunit is investigated by a comparison of the unalkylated and alkylated forms of the

We have recorded high-resolution l3C-nmr spectra of collagen fibrils in the solid state by the cross-polarization-magic-angle-spinning (CP-MAS) method and analyzed the spectra with reference to those of collagenlike polypetides. We used two kinds of model polypeptides to obtain reference 13C chemica
