✦ Synopsis

In order to describe the adsorption of the Cl-ion at a mercury electrode in methanol and in ethanol more accurately, some additional properties of the inner layer were determined using Parsons' a-function data (collected in part I), the c&. values, and the thickness ratio parameters. The solvent effect on the specific adsorption of the Cl-ion was observed to be somewhat different in both aliphatic alcohols. It is discussed and compared with the results obtained for other ionic systems. PRRVIOUSLY,~~ a number of systematic studies on the specific adsorption phenomena at the mercury/solution interface in several non-aqueous solvents have been carried

Ahtract-Coadsorption of perchlorate ions and 3-methyl-isoquinoline molecules at the mercury-aqueous solution interface results in the formation of a condensed film. The process of ClO; incorporation (or removal) is very slow. Characteristic relaxation times (about 10-l s) are several orders of magni
