Abstract
The competitive photochlorination of vinyl chloride and ethane has been studied at 322Β°K and permits one to measure k~2~ = 10^10^ mole ^β1^~1~ sec ^β1^ for the rate constant of the addition of a Cl atom on vinyl chloride. This value is compared with those obtained for other chlorinated ethylenes and is discussed with respect to recent theoretical calculations.
