โœฆ Synopsis

Due to vague boundaries of the attributes of the parts, the grouping relations between parts and machines are frequently vague or fuzzy. The fuzzy concept was developed to handle this kind of linguistic vagueness. In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy system is used to investigate the machinepart grouping problem. To illustrate the advantages of the approach, numerical examples are solved and the various parameters are compared.

In order to achieve the goal of fully automated manufacturing systems, novel techniques and tools in many aspects of manufacturing, including scheduling and control, need to be developed. These novel techniques can be recognised by their capabilities to adapt to complex situations, which conventiona
