โœฆ Synopsis

The French-American-British (FAB) classification of acute leukemias is based on the light microscopic detection of myeioperoxldase (MPO) activlty in blast cells. Cells with MPO activity in >3% of cells are classified as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and usually express myeloid cell surface antigens. We describe a case of acute leukemia in which the blast cells have lymphoid morphology, ultrastructure, immunophenotype, and molecular rearrangements, but express significant amounts of MPO. We discuss the incidence, features, and outcome of MPO-positive acute lymphobiastic leukemia

We present a case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in which the leukemic cells had cytoplasmic azurophilic granules. Surface marker studies revealed that the leukemic cells expressed CDlO (CALLA), CD19, CD20, and HLA-DR antigens. Cytochemical studies by light microscopy revealed that the blasts

To the Editor: Granular acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a morphological variant of ALL, and is characterized by the presence of prominent azurophilic granules or inclusions in the cytoplasm of the lymphoblasts. The prevalence of granular ALL ranges from 1.7 to 7% of all ALLs, depending on its

The authors report five pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in whom symptomatic aseptic osteonecrosis developed on therapy. All patients had been on treatment with a modified BFM protocol and developed osteonecrosis in the maintenance phase of the protocol. The avascular necro
