## Abstract An advanced glycation end products (AGE)/a receptor for AGE (RAGE) axis plays a key role in diabetic vascular complications. Membrane type 1‐matrix metalloproteinase (MT1‐MMP) has been shown to function not only as a proteolytic enzyme but also as a signaling molecule. In this study, we

In the present study, we investigated whether the activation of protein kinase C (PKC) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (Erk1/2) are involved in the induction of MMP-9 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated primary astrocytes. The expression of MMP-9 but not MMP-2 was increased by LPS.
