## Abstract Conventional acid‐catalyzed ^2^H/^1^H exchange in aromatic rings requires long reaction times, high temperatures and pressure. This paper reports that accelerated deuterium exchange can be achieved in a microwave oven. Experiments were carried out on benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepre

✦ Synopsis
A technique is described for the acid catalyzed tritium exchange of activated aromatic protons using acetic acid-HI tritium chloride. In the two examples reported, specific activities of 0.5 Ci/rmnol were obtained for propranolol and 1.73 Ci/mmol for reserpine. be very effective and easily manipulated under vacuum.
