The 3-carboxyphenoxyacetate ligand in the title compound, [Cu(C 9 H 6 O 5 )(C 5 H 5 N) 3 ]Á3H 2 O, links adjacent tripyridinecopper(II) groups into a helical chain, which runs along the c axis of the hexagonal unit cell. The covalently bonded O atoms occupy trans sites in the basal plane of the squa
