## Abstract Solid‐phase extraction, capillary GC, and mass selective detection have been used to determine 3‐carboxy‐4‐methyl‐5‐propyl‐2‐furanpropionic acid (furanpropionic acid) and hippuric acid in the plasma of patients with chronic renal failure. The concentrations of furanpropionic acid and hi
