The determination of self-broadening coefficients is improved with the inclusion of line narrowing; self-shifts are also reported.

The absolute wavenumbers for 36 lines of the 3-0 band of 12 C 16 O are measured from P( 17) at 6271 cm 01 to R( 19) at 6405 cm 01 , with an uncertainty of about {3 1 10 05 cm 01 (about {1 MHz). The experimental positions are compared with the best predicted positions from recent Dunham coefficients.
