✦ Synopsis
It goes without saying that, since the author is so prolific, he has made additional contributions to the subject subsequent to the publication of the book. However, these constitute refinements which he was well aware would follow, since the subject is such a difficult and complicated one requiring idealization in order to make the mathematical formulations tractable. Despite the modest admission that " . . . the theory outlined in this monograph is in a rudimentary state," and the avowed intention of meeting only the gross'observational requirements, in some respects at least, the theory is still somewhat ahead of the precision of the observations. This lucid monograph, with broad interdisciplinary implications, should appeal to a very wide audience, for, like the New York Times, it has something for everyone.
