HRS60.1, a monomer unit (184 bp) of a highly repeated nuclear DNA sequence of Nicotiana tabacum, has been cloned and sequenced. Following BamHI digestion of tobacco DNA, Southern hybridization with HRS60.1 revealed a ladder of hybridization bands corresponding to multiples of the basic monomer unit.

The (G + C) distribution and the presence and amounts of repetitive sequence families in the whitetailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) have been examined. The distribution ranges from 20 to 70% (G + C) and shows four distinct repeat families. A 0.7-kb family, DII, corresponds to satellite II in dome
The woodrush genus Luzula is characterised by having holocentric chromosomes. DNA of nine related Australasian species shows similar satellite DNAs which re very similar in nucleotide sequence content and unit length. Differences between the repetitive DNAs are evident as either the presence or abse
Highly repeated DNA is a main feature of urodele amphibian genomes. InTriturus this class of DNA consists of several sequence families differently arranged at both the molecular and the chromosomal level, showing varying degrees of conservation across species. Present data on highly repeated DNA inT
