✦ Synopsis
An antenna system for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Forum) mobile phones with the E911 function for locating wireless users is presented. The antenna system comprises a wideband stubby metal-plate monopole antenna for WiMAX or IEEE 802.16e operation in the frequency bands between 2 and 6 GHz and an internal planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) for global positioning system (GPS) operation at 1575 MHz for the E911 function. In addition, the two antennas for WiMAX and GPS operations show good isolation with S 21 Ͻ Ϫ20 dB over the operating bands.

## Abstract This article presents a broadband folded planar monopole antenna suitable for DCS (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1850–1990 MHz), UMTS (1920–2170 MHz), and WLAN (2400–2484 MHz) operations for mobile phones. In addition to the broadband operation, the proposed folded monopole has compact dimension
## Abstract A small wideband planar monopole antenna for mobile wireless devices is designed and implemented. The proposed antenna satisfies the −10‐dB return‐loss requirement from 1.62 to 10.9 GHz. The antenna can easily cover the DCS1800/1900, IMT‐2000, WiBro, WLAN, DMB, and UWB bands at the same
## Abstract A compact wideband arrowhead planar monopole antenna is obtained by trimming the lower edges of the triangular planar monopole. The shorted arrowhead monopole is very suitable for use in multi‐service wireless systems, yielding a measured bandwidth of 5:1 for VSWR < 2.1 while retaining
## Abstract By bending a planar monopole into an inverted‐U shape and short‐circuiting one end to the ground, a novel low‐profile monopole antenna with reduced backward radiation is obtained. The proposed antenna is easily fed by using a capacitively coupled feed, and is suitable for applications i
## Abstract In this article, a novel compact internal wideband planar inverted F‐antenna (PIFA) was designed. The proposed antenna consisted of a main patch with strip, rectangular slot, and shorting strip and occupied the total volume of 36 × 18 × 6 mm^3^. The dual band characteristic was achieved
