Abstract
The need for a means of applying standard smoking procedures to cigarettes etc. is discussed and views upon what the conditions of smoking should be are put forward. The βAutosmokerβ described incorporates a mechanical βmouthβ, electrostatic precipitation, the automatic counting of puffs to a standard stub, and provision for collection of nonβparticulate combustion products. The machine is sufficiently versatile to cover automatic pipe smoking.
