Abstract

The need for a means of applying standard smoking procedures to cigarettes etc. is discussed and views upon what the conditions of smoking should be are put forward. The β€˜Autosmoker’ described incorporates a mechanical β€˜mouth’, electrostatic precipitation, the automatic counting of puffs to a standard stub, and provision for collection of non‐particulate combustion products. The machine is sufficiently versatile to cover automatic pipe smoking.
