โœฆ Synopsis

The theory of the parabolic equation (PE) method and the manner in which a .finite difference numerical solution scheme can be constructed are presented. The treatment deals with both narrow and wide angle cases. The implementation of a second-order accurate ground boundary condition and an upper boundary condition, designed to minimise reflections into the computational region, are also described.

A new parabolic equation (PE) incorporating a simple terrain following transformation is derived which allows a range dependent solution for the fieldfrom a point or line radiator. Predictions with the generalised terrain-PE are in close agreement with those from an eflective barrier model for a sim
